What Are The Possible Reasons For The Poor Flushing Effect Of The Toilet?

Nov 15, 2024

1. Water tank and water parts problems
Water level is too low
Cause analysis: The water level in the water tank is crucial to the flushing effect. If the water level is too low, the amount of water entering the toilet during flushing will be reduced, resulting in insufficient flushing force. The low water level may be due to a malfunction of the float or water level adjustment device in the water tank, such as improper float position, loose water level adjustment screw, etc., which makes the water tank unable to replenish water to the appropriate water level normally.
Solution: Open the water tank cover and check the float and water level adjustment device. If it is a problem with the float position, the water level can be raised by adjusting the float connecting rod; if the water level adjustment screw is loose, tighten it to restore the water level to the normal height. Generally, there will be water level marks inside the toilet tank, which can be used as a reference for adjustment.
Water parts failure
Water inlet valve problem: Damage or blockage of the water inlet valve will affect the normal water inlet of the water tank. If the water inlet valve cannot be fully opened, the water flow will become smaller, which will lead to insufficient water during flushing. In addition, aging or damage of the seal of the water inlet valve may cause water leakage, which will reduce the actual water storage in the water tank and affect the flushing effect.
Drain valve problem: If the drain valve is not sealed tightly, some water will leak back to the water tank from the drain valve during the flushing process, resulting in a decrease in the actual amount of water used for flushing and a weaker flushing force. If the opening and closing angle of the drain valve is not large enough or it is stuck by foreign objects, it will also affect the outflow speed and flow of water, making the flushing effect worse.
Solution: Check whether the water inlet valve and the drain valve are blocked, damaged or poorly sealed. For blockage problems, you can clean up the debris inside the valve; if the components are damaged, such as aging of the seal, you need to replace the corresponding parts.
2. Toilet pipe problems
Sewage pipe blockage
Cause analysis: The sewage pipe of the toilet may be blocked for various reasons. For example, if foreign objects (such as toilet paper, sanitary napkins, hair, etc.) are accidentally flushed into the toilet during use, these foreign objects will accumulate in the pipe over time, causing the pipe to narrow or block. In addition, scale inside the pipe may also affect sewage discharge, especially in areas with hard water, where scale easily accumulates on the inner wall of the pipe, reducing the effective inner diameter of the pipe.
Solution: If it is a minor blockage, you can use a plunger to dredge it. Aim the plunger at the toilet drain, press hard and pull repeatedly to dredge the pipe through the suction and pressure generated. For more serious blockages, you can use a pipe dredge, but be careful to choose a dredge suitable for toilet pipes and use it according to the instructions to avoid damaging the pipes. If the blockage is very serious, you may need to ask a professional pipe repairman to use professional tools (such as a pipe dredge machine) to clean it.
Unreasonable pipe design
Cause analysis: The pipe design of the toilet itself will also affect the flushing effect. For example, if the diameter of the sewage pipe is too small, the curvature is not smooth, or the inner wall is rough, it will increase the water flow resistance and make it difficult for the dirt to be discharged smoothly. If the siphon elbow of the siphon toilet is not designed properly, it may not form an effective siphon effect, resulting in weak flushing.
Solution: This situation is generally a quality problem of the toilet itself. If the newly installed toilet is found to have an unreasonable pipe design, it is recommended to contact the merchant for replacement. When purchasing a toilet, you should also choose a product with a reasonable pipe design and a smooth inner wall.
3. Problems with the internal structure of the toilet
The flush port is blocked or the design is unreasonable
Cause analysis: If the flush port of the toilet is blocked by debris, the water flow cannot be sprayed normally, which will directly affect the flushing effect. In addition, the number, size and position design of the flush port will also have an impact on the flushing. For example, if the number of flush ports is too small or the distribution is unreasonable, some areas of the inner wall of the toilet may not be fully flushed; if the size of the flush port is not appropriate, the water flow speed and flushing force may be insufficient.
Solution: Check whether the flush port is blocked. If there is debris, you can use a toothpick or a small brush to clean it. If it is a flush port design problem, it is difficult to modify it. When purchasing a toilet, you should pay attention to choosing a product with a reasonable flush port design.
Poor glaze quality
Cause analysis: If the glaze of the inner wall of the toilet is of poor quality, the surface will be rough and easy to get dirty. In this way, when flushing, the dirt will not be easily washed away, affecting the flushing effect and the cleanliness of the toilet. Poor glaze quality may be manifested by pinholes, bubbles, roughness or too thin glaze layer.
Solution: If the glaze is a minor problem, you can try to use a special toilet cleaner or white vinegar to clean it to see if it can improve the dirt hanging situation. But if the glaze quality is too poor, you may need to consider replacing the toilet. When buying a toilet, carefully check the glaze quality and choose a smooth, flat, uniform and shiny product.
